Personal Food Intolerances

Let’s begin with an important reminder: our experiences with allergens and food intolerances can vary widely! While some may find similarities in their experiences, it’s quite rare for two individuals to navigate this journey in the same way. Each person is wonderfully unique, and our diets are influenced by our gut microbiomes, environments, and personal medical histories.

I have completed a detailed food journal and have explored countless medical research papers (some of which I’ve listed in the Resources section) regarding chronic urticaria, oral allergy syndrome (OAS), reactions to salicylates, and reactions to balsam of Peru. I am on an elimination diet for a little while longer and am taking two daily antihistamines, along with another medication for my hive (urticaria) reactions. I have also given blood for allergen testing and am waiting for the results.

At this stage, I categorize my reactions as intolerances since true allergies require thorough testing, and I’m still awaiting more information. I’ve discovered that I am intolerant to gluten, dairy, histamines, salicylates, and nickel. While making these dietary adjustments is crucial for me, your journey may look completely different. I’m excited to share not only my own experiences but also valuable insights into gut health, tips for identifying your unique triggers, recommendations for specialists who can help, and advice on maintaining a positive mindset throughout it all.
